Zagora - Erg Chegaga

Zagora - Erg Chegaga

Erg Chegaga, Morocco's largest sandy desert and is located about 50 km west of M’Hamid, the last village before the desert plateau and at the end of the idyllic Draa Valley (Wadi Draa, a dry river bed). The dune chain is up to 40 km long and the landscape around Erg Chegaga is rather barren, but at the same time bizarre and impressive.

Erg Chegaga is a dune area that is particularly noticeable for its almost orange sand, meter-high dunes and of course the beauty of its waves. Travelers who are not looking for a cliché desert have come to the right place! Because over hill and dale, over scree fields and through wadis, along the mountains and the dunes you can find everything that defines the desert.
